What type of church is Mountaintop?

Some call us independent while others say nondenominational. We're not much into labels, but prefer to be seen as a New Testament church. To call us that is the highest compliment you could pay!

When should I visit?

Anytime is a great time to visit!! And the sooner the better as far as we're concerned... we're here waiting on you! We offer two identical Worship Services on Sunday mornings: 9:00am and 11:00am. Feel free to come to either. If you are looking for a pick-me-up in the middle of the week, then consider our New Community Service on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm.

Where are you located?

We're located just south of downtown Birmingham, Alabama in Vestavia Hills. We're easy to find and have great Interstate access. Check out our Directions page for more details.

What should I wear?

Really, anything you like. Suits and ties are rare, jeans and shorts are abundant. We suggest something comfortable... because that's what we'll be wearing.

Do you have any tips for first-timers?

Sure! If you're worried about parking... don't be! We're a pretty good size church but we've prepared well for your visit. You'll find a well-staffed Traffic Team, multiple shuttles, and lots of help getting the best parking space possible!

Once inside you'll find lots of smiling faces and helpful signage. Those signs should lead you to the coffee and donuts (if you get turned around, ask one of the smiling faces for help). Located in our Main Atrium is a well-stocked Coffee Bar serving up fresh coffee and Krispy Kreme donuts. So our suggestion is to come a few minutes early and enjoy the atmosphere.

Do you have programs for Children and Teens?

Of course we do. Children's programs are offered during both Sunday Services. Middle School has a rockin' program during both services as well. High Schoolers are encouraged to attend the main adult service at 9:00am or join other High Schoolers for the "Collide" service in the Family Life Center every Sunday at 11:00am.

What are the Services like?

It's hard to explain since there are so few churches out there like us... but we're going to try anyway... Imagine finding a church that is enjoyable, one that you look forward to all week. We use many different techniques to communicate the message God has given us. You're likely to find us using music, drama, video, staging, props, and other creative techniques in every Service.  For instance, our Band (with drums, guitars, brass, and a B3) is just as likely to be playing U2 as they are a praise chorus.

How long are the Services?

We know that you have a lot going on in life and sitting through a long, boring, drawn-out church Service is the last thing you want to do with your Sunday. So first and foremost we strive to not be boring. If its less than a perfect fit then we'll delete it from the Service before you ever see it. But to answer your question: about an hour, and occasionally if we have a lot of really good elements, then an hour and 15 minutes.

Tell me about your Pastor...

Bill is one of the finest communicators we've ever seen. He's understandable, relevant, and (our favorite characteristic) he doesn't yell! In Bill you'll find a pastor who comprehends your struggles, cares about your questions, and is committed to doing whatever it takes to help you. Growing up in a family where one parent was a practicing Catholic and the other a Presbyterian, Bill brings great insight to the pulpit. He holds a doctorate and has been pastoring for decades. You won't find a pastor anywhere that is more dedicated to truth, compassion, and helping others.

Do you have Small Groups?

We sure do. They are one of the cornerstones of our community here. Interestingly enough, you'll find a lot more in our groups than just study and fellowship.
