During the nursery and preschool years at Mountaintop, we are committed to helping kids discover God. The curriculum we use is simple and fun: repeating one basic truth about God each month. The lessons are wrapped up into one “Bottom Line” – a short phrase that is so easy to remember that it can be reinforced at home. Parents receive relevant, easy-to-use, age-appropriate materials to help teach the same concepts from Sunday morning throughout the week. By the time kids are 5 years old, we want them to believe three basic truths:
God loves me.
God made me.
Jesus wants to be my forever friend.
We believe that it is never too early for a child to experience the love of Jesus. Our nursery volunteers are here each Sunday because they truly love babies. The Mountaintop nursery provides a safe, clean and nurturing environment where babies can relax and play while their parents worship. Our nursery leaders introduce three basic truths listed above through rhymes and prayers during diaper changes, feeding times and play.
We have two private suites for nursing mothers to care for their babies. One is downstairs in a separate room inside our nursery. The other suite is down the main hallway upstairs just around the corner from the sanctuary. Each room is equipped with a glider and changing station. The room downstairs also has a live broadcast of our service.
In our toddler classes, we use small windows of playtime as opportunities to teach the children about their loving Heavenly Father. During this time, we introduce the toddlers to the monthly Bottom Line while reinforcing the three basic truths listed above through engaging age-appropriate play.
2-5 year olds
Our two through five year olds have a small group/large group/small group format. First, our preschoolers meet with loving small group leaders who purposefully connect during playtime in their age-specific rooms.
Then they head to large group where kids and leaders come together in a fun treehouse-like environment to worship with singing and dancing, and to learn a Bible story told in a creative way. During this time they will also be learning memory verses, which preschoolers love and really latch onto developmentally.
After large group, children return to their small groups to participate in games, activities and group discussions. These discussions introduce and the reinforce the “Bottom Line” for the month.
We know that parenting begins before childbirth, so we want to begin our partnership with you as you anticipate your child’s arrival. Whether you are first-time parents or expecting your tenth bundle of joy, we want to connect with you and to help you prepare. From sharing your news with fellow families to providing tours of our nursery, we look forward to helping ease your anxiety and celebrating the new life God has blessed us with! Fill out a card or contact email@example.com to let us know how we can come along side you during this special time.
The Children’s Ministry at Mountaintop believes that your child is a gift from God, and from the beginning we are here to partner with you as we help all our children discover God’s love for them. We believe that you are the greatest influence in the life of your child. What happens at home is even more important than what happens during an hour on Sunday morning. That is why we are committed to be your biggest fans, strongest supporters, and your trusted guides so that together we can have the greatest possible spiritual impact in the life of your child.
Baby dedications at Mountaintop are opportunities for parents to publicly declare their intentions to raise their child to know God and establish a personal relationship with Christ. It is also an opportunity for key people in your child’s life to commit to partner with you on this journey.
Your baby is dedicated during our Baby D. celebrations!! These celebrations take place on a Sunday evening and will give you, along with other families, the opportunity to give thanks for the unique gifts our children are. The event will include any family and other guests that you choose to invite who will partner with you as significant voices throughout your child’s life. We make these events very special for each family involved.
Before you attend one of these celebrations, you will need to attend an orientation class between services on a Sunday morning. Contact Melissa.Sanderson@mountaintopchurch.com for more information about Mountaintop’s child dedication orientations.
“I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the LORD. For his whole life he will be given over to the LORD” 1 Samuel 1:27-28
