The goal of parenting is to no longer parent. The goal is for your children to be functional adults that don’t need your correction. And here’s what we parents often underestimate:  You will know your child as an adult for much longer than you do as a child or teenager.  So Why not parent with that end in mind? And here’s why discipline is so important: Just because you no longer parent them doesn’t mean they’re no longer under authority.
